The Moon has risen — of it herself possessed —
And made full of her quiescent glory
The sleeping City, desolate and hoary…
In moonbeams, Rome dreams without stir,
Its lasting dust’s become akin to her —
As if the moon above, the urbs reposed
Are of one world, enchanting yet deposed!..
