Cinderella in New York City An 80s Tale

In a tower of concrete, where lights flicker bright,
Lived a  pretty girl Cindy, with dreams taking flight.
Her rags were designer, thrift store tremendously chic,
She looked a million bucks, but her soul was unique.

With a heart made of gold and a laugh like the sun,
She'd dance through the streets, where people would run.
But a serpent of envy in her stepmother’s heart,
Kept her scrubbing floors in their diner all night.

By day, Cindy lived with the pulse of the crowd,
Where neon and music screamed vivid and loud.
Deep there in her heart would an orchestra play,
Of a world full of magic, just a swift dance away.

Then came an invite to a gala so grand,
At the heart of the city, an affair well planned
For the rich of the city their wealth to display,
But Cindy just sighed, "That's too far away.

I have nothing to wear and it won’t be right,
For I have to work in the diner tonight.”
But here her godmother, with some true New York flair,
Whisked her off to the ball, in the shimmer of air.

Through the glass doors she glided, her image so bright,
With the ‘80s beats pulsing, filling up this winter night.
Prince Charming a DJ, spinning tunes in the hall,
Noticed her right away, she was the prettiest of all.

She danced as a fairy, he played just for her,
In the glow of the disco, true love conferred.
But the clock struck the hour, as realities creep,
She fled through the crowd, leaving music to keep.

He lost all his mojo, despairing her kiss,
He searched through the city, couldn’t stand what he’d miss.
With a Louboutin  sneaker—her mark on the scene,
He’d find her again, his lost silver queen.

In a world full of noise, where few looked inside,
Cindy forged her new path, with a sparkle of pride.
No longer the girl with the heart locked away,
Cinderella danced proudly in her own vibrant way.

So this is the story of hope born anew,
In the glow of the skyline’s bright shimmering view.
Cinderella in New York, a tale of one night,
Where dreams, like the skyline, rise up and ignite.
