White Roses

In garden paths I walk alone
Among the thorny frost of stone
Those roses that I gave to you
Now memories of love untrue

White roses, thorns of dark deceit
White roses, misty fog so sweet
White roses, love I couldn't save
Your precious heart I threw away

Love's thorns are like a needle's sting
You left my heart, took everything
And roses with their pallid grace
Remind me of your gentle face

Young and naive, I believed in dreams
But heaven scattered, or so it seems
And only roses white at night
Still hold the warmth of lost delight

White roses, thorns of dark deceit
White roses, misty fog so sweet
White roses, love I couldn't save
Your precious heart I threw away

Love's thorns are like a needle's sting
Forever gone, you spread your wings
And roses with their pallid grace
Remind me of your gentle face

White roses, flowers of love...
White roses...
