Extinguished Flame

A cycle of poems «I'll Be Waiting for You on the Shore»

In the silence, where shadows lay,
Once we danced, in the light of day.
But the spark we had, it flickered and faded,
Now I’m here, feeling jaded.

Whispers of love in the cold night air,
Moments we shared, now they’re just a scare.
What was warm has turned to stone,
In the echoes, I feel so alone.

Extinguished flame, can’t you see?
You were the fire that burned in me.
But the winds of time blew us away,
Now I’m lost in the ghosts of yesterday.
Extinguished flame, oh, how you fade,
Leaving only memories in shades of gray.

We built our dreams on a canvas bright,
But the colors ran in the endless night.
Every promise turned to ash,
As I reminisce on what couldn’t last.

The laughter we shared, like a distant song,
Now I wonder where we went so wrong.
What’s left behind, can’t find a way,
To reignite the passions of yesterday.

Extinguished flame, can’t you see?
You were the fire that burned in me.
But the winds of time blew us away,
Now I’m lost in the ghosts of yesterday.
Extinguished flame, oh, how you fade,
Leaving only memories in shades of gray.

And I still feel you in the midnight hour,
A fleeting touch, a wilting flower.
Could we ever find our way back home,
Or are we destined to wander alone?

Extinguished flame, can’t you see?
You were the fire that burned in me.
But the winds of time blew us away,
Now I’m lost in the ghosts of yesterday.
Extinguished flame, oh, how you fade,
Leaving only memories in shades of gray.

So here I stand in the fading light,
With the ashes of dreams and the remnants of night.
Though we’re scattered like stars in the sky,
I’ll remember the warmth, as I say goodbye.
Extinguished flame, forever you’ll be,
A part of the heart that once burned so free.
