Betrayal of a Friend

A cycle of poems «Burn My Poems!»

We were young, just you and me,
Dreams painted in the sky, so carefree,
Laughed 'til midnight, secrets we shared,
Thought we’d climb the mountains, two hearts laid bare.

Through every storm, you said you'd stand,
But storms, they shift like shifting sand,
Now the silence whispers all the lies,
A dagger hidden beneath your disguise.

Oh, the shadows of trust, they linger on,
In the echoes of friendship, something's gone wrong.
You wore a mask while you played the part,
Now I’m left with this shattered heart.

Late nights and promises, we wrote our tale,
But every word you spoke was a thin veil.
I gave you my heart, I gave you my hand,
Never saw the downfall, never saw the end.

Now I see the truth in the flickering light,
A friendship twisted, lost in the night.
You danced around the fire, took my flame,
Now I’m left alone, haunted by your name.

Oh, the shadows of trust, they linger on,
In the echoes of friendship, something's gone wrong.
You wore a mask while you played the part,
Now I’m left with this shattered heart.

I built my world around your lies,
Now I’m breaking free, saying my goodbyes.
From ashes of pain, I rise anew,
Learning to trust starts with learning to rue.

Oh, the shadows of trust, they linger on,
In the echoes of friendship, something's gone wrong.
You wore a mask while you played the part,
Now I’m left with this shattered heart.

So here’s to the lessons, the scars that we bear,
I’ll find my way without you, learn how to care.
From the ashes of trust, I will rebuild,
And maybe one day, this heart will be healed.
Oh, the shadows of trust, they fade with the dawn,
A friendship betrayed, but I will move on.
