Only the Rain Embraces Me

A cycle of poems «Your Lipstick's on My Shirt»

The sun has set, the world grows dim
A lonely ache, a heart within
The shadows creep, the chill descends
But solace finds me, where the rain attends

Only the rain embraces me, a soft and gentle hand
Washing away the memories, across this weary land
No words are spoken, no judgments made
Just cool, grey comfort, a silent serenade

The wind it sighs, a mournful tune
The leaves they dance, beneath the moon
I stand and wait, beneath the sky
Let the rain fall, let the tears not lie

Only the rain embraces me, a soft and gentle hand
Washing away the memories, across this weary land
No words are spoken, no judgments made
Just cool, grey comfort, a silent serenade

The world outside, it rushes by
But here I'm still, beneath the eye
Of heavens weep, a cleansing flow
A peace I find, in this gentle show

Only the rain embraces me, a soft and gentle hand
Washing away the memories, across this weary land
No words are spoken, no judgments made
Just cool, grey comfort, a silent serenade

The rain keeps falling, a soothing sound
My solace found, on hallowed ground
Only the rain, embraces me
Sets my spirit free.
