Love Doesn t Live Here Anymore

A cycle of poems «Your Lipstick's on My Shirt»

Empty coffee cups and faded photographs
Dust motes dancing in the morning's shafts
Echoes of laughter, a whisper in the air
Reminders of a love that just wasn't there

Love doesn't live here anymore, no, it's flown away
Like a bird with broken wings, it couldn't stay
The walls remember, the floors still bear the stain
Of promises whispered, now lost in the rain

The scent of your perfume, a ghost in the breeze
Haunts the corners, whispers through the trees
I search for your hand, a touch, a gentle smile
But find only silence, for a little while

Love doesn't live here anymore, no, it's flown away
Like a bird with broken wings, it couldn't stay
The walls remember, the floors still bear the stain
Of promises whispered, now lost in the rain

Tried to mend the pieces, tried to hold it tight
But the cracks grew wider, swallowed up the light
Maybe it was foolish, maybe I was blind
To the warning signs, the whispers left behind

Love doesn't live here anymore, no, it's flown away
Like a bird with broken wings, it couldn't stay
The walls remember, the floors still bear the stain
Of promises whispered, now lost in the rain

So I'll gather the fragments, the memories I hold
Learn to live without it, let the story unfold
Love doesn't live here anymore, but hope still remains
That someday, somewhere, love will bloom again.
