Emotional Wounds

A cycle of poems «Your Lipstick's on My Shirt»

Scars you can't see, etched deep within
Memories flicker, where the pain begins
A whisper of words, a touch, a cold stare
Left me shattered, a burden to bear
The weight of betrayal, a heart torn in two
A promise unspoken, a dream untrue

Emotional wounds, they bleed silently
Leaving scars that time can't easily heal
A constant reminder, a phantom of pain
A fragile heart, trying to mend again
But the echoes remain, a haunting refrain
Emotional wounds, a lingering stain

Trust, once a beacon, now a flickering flame
Fear takes its hold, whispering your name
The walls I built high, to protect from the storm
But the cracks still appear, keeping me warm
With a bittersweet ache, and a tear in my eye
I learn to forgive, but the scars won't die

Emotional wounds, they bleed silently
Leaving scars that time can't easily heal
A constant reminder, a phantom of pain
A fragile heart, trying to mend again
But the echoes remain, a haunting refrain
Emotional wounds, a lingering stain

Through the darkness I search, for a glimmer of light
To find my own strength, to rise up and fight
To embrace the fragility, the beauty, the fear
And know that healing, though slow, is near

Emotional wounds, they bleed silently
Leaving scars that time can't easily heal
A constant reminder, a phantom of pain
A fragile heart, trying to mend again
But the echoes remain, a haunting refrain
Emotional wounds, a lingering stain

But I'll learn to live with the marks they impart
For they're a testament, to the strength of my heart
And though the pain lingers, a whisper so low
I'll find my own peace, and let the old wounds go.
