I Thought I Had Forgotten
But now I'm meeting you by chance.
With just one glance, my heart had woken,
My soul embraced you all at once.
I saw your gaze in a hundred faces
Forgetting people on my way.
It's hard to scrape away the traces
Of love still seeking where to stay.
I didn’t linger, I just froze,
As wayward wind brought back your scent.
I tried, but couldn’t, I suppose,
Falling deep into thoughts I resent.
You, as before, with a fake smile,
Pretended you didn’t see me.
You're making someone else feel worthwhile,
With a love that wasn’t meant for me.
I woke up, and suddenly recalled,
There’s a home that’s waiting for me.
A twinge of pain, but I moved on,
And kept walking my path, now free.
