Sunning yourself on the grass is a glorious thing,
Most beneficial if done in the middle of spring.
Others can chatter away or obsessively preen -
Lie worry-free on the grass while it's flawless and green.
Soon it will turn unattractively spiky and brown
Under a merciless sun. You will grumble and frown
Watching the withering grass - till you blink and it's lost
Under a chillingly comfortless blanket of frost.
Yes, just like that. It's a pretty ephemeral thing,
Sunning yourself on the grass in the middle of spring.
