Severity of Burns

A cycle of poems «Trauma Life Support»

Skin, a shield, a fragile thing,
Protecting all that life can bring.
But when the fire's touch is near,
A searing pain, a rising fear.
A flash, a spark, a sudden heat,
The flesh ablaze, a bitter feat.

Burns, a spectrum, deep and wide,
First degree, a gentle tide.
Second wave, with blisters bright,
A painful mark, a fading light.
Third degree, a cruelest fate,
Where tissue dies, and hope waits late.

The agony, a constant sting,
A phantom touch, a burning wing.
Infection's threat, a lurking fear,
As fragile skin, begins to tear.
The wound so deep, a crimson stain,
The body's battle, fought in pain.

Burns, a spectrum, deep and wide,
First degree, a gentle tide.
Second wave, with blisters bright,
A painful mark, a fading light.
Third degree, a cruelest fate,
Where tissue dies, and hope waits late.

The road to heal, a journey long,
With grafts and scars, where once was song.
The memories etched, a haunting trace,
Of fire's touch, a chilling space.
But strength remains, a flicker bright,
To rise above, and claim the light.

Burns, a spectrum, deep and wide,
First degree, a gentle tide.
Second wave, with blisters bright,
A painful mark, a fading light.
Third degree, a cruelest fate,
Where tissue dies, and hope waits late.

So heed the warning, take the care,
To guard your skin, beyond compare.
For burns can scar, both deep and wide,
A reminder of the fire's tide.
But with courage strong, and spirits bold,
New life can bloom, a story told.
