Extremity Injury
The world spun fast, a blur of grey
A flash of pain, then night's dark sway
A twisted limb, a bone askew
My body shattered, what can I do?
The scream that caught, a strangled sound
As blood ran free, upon the ground
Extremity injured, a fragile state
My future clouded, sealed by fate
Oh, the agony, a constant sting
A phantom limb, that won't take wing
Will I ever walk, will I ever run?
Will I ever feel the warmth of the sun?
The road to healing, a long, slow climb
A battle fought, against the chime
Of doubt and fear, that whispers low
Will I ever rise, and overcome the woe?
The hospital walls, sterile and white
A constant hum, both day and night
The doctors' faces, a mix of care
And apprehension, a silent prayer
The surgery sharp, a cutting blade
A chance to mend, what fate had made
The cast so heavy, a prison cold
My spirit yearning, stories untold
Oh, the agony, a constant sting
A phantom limb, that won't take wing
Will I ever walk, will I ever run?
Will I ever feel the warmth of the sun?
The road to healing, a long, slow climb
A battle fought, against the chime
Of doubt and fear, that whispers low
Will I ever rise, and overcome the woe?
But hope remains, a flicker bright
A stubborn seed, in darkest night
The strength within, a hidden fire
To rise above, and reach higher
The therapists' hands, a gentle touch
Guiding me forward, oh, so much
Each step I take, a victory won
A testament, to battles begun
Oh, the agony, a fading sting
A phantom limb, that learns to sing
I will walk again, I will run free
I will feel the warmth, eternally
The road to healing, a winding way
But I'm rising now, and here to stay
The doubt and fear, a distant sound
I've overcome the woe, and found my ground
Extremity healed, a spirit strong
My journey's onward, where I belong
My body mended, my soul renewed
A testament to strength, misunderstood.
