Sternal Fracture

A cycle of poems «Trauma Life Support»

A jolt, a crash, a sudden pain
A breath that catches, a body strained
The sternum's cracked, a fragile bone
A hidden hurt, a silent groan
The ribs around it, a protective cage
But now it's fractured, a painful stage

Sternal fracture, a hidden plight
A chest that aches, both day and night
Breathing shallow, a cautious pace
A constant reminder, a worried face
The healing journey, a road unknown
But strength will blossom, a seed has sown

The doctor's words, a careful sound
Rest and recovery, on solid ground
Pain medication, a soothing balm
To ease the pressure, to calm the storm
Physical therapy, a gentle guide
To mend the damage, with strength inside

Sternal fracture, a hidden plight
A chest that aches, both day and night
Breathing shallow, a cautious pace
A constant reminder, a worried face
The healing journey, a road unknown
But strength will blossom, a seed has sown

Each day a struggle, a step to take
The body's wisdom, for goodness sake
Patience and perseverance, a guiding light
To overcome the darkness, and find the bright
The scars will fade, a story told
Of resilience shown, both brave and bold

Sternal fracture, a hidden plight
A chest that aches, both day and night
Breathing shallow, a cautious pace
A constant reminder, a worried face
The healing journey, a road unknown
But strength will blossom, a seed has sown

The sternum heals, a new found grace
A stronger spirit, in time and space
The pain will lessen, the scars will fade
A testament to life, unafraid.
Unafraid.
