Coxa Vara

A cycle of poems «Pediatric Orthopedics»

My hip's a little funky, ain't no lie
Coxa vara's got me lookin' at the sky
Angle's all askew, a twisted, bony plea
Limping through the morning, just trying to be free

Coxa vara, coxa vara, oh the pain it brings
Shortened leg and limping stride, the sorrow that it sings
But I'll keep on movin', keep on fighting through
Find a way to dance, a way to see it through

Doctor's words were heavy, like a falling stone
Surgery or bracing, a path I'd have to own
Physical therapy, a journey long and slow
But with every step I take, a little stronger I grow

Coxa vara, coxa vara, oh the pain it brings
Shortened leg and limping stride, the sorrow that it sings
But I'll keep on movin', keep on fighting through
Find a way to dance, a way to see it through

It's not the easiest walk, the path I have to tread
But I'll find my rhythm, lift my weary head
Embrace the challenges, the lessons learned inside
My spirit won't be broken, my hope won't subside

Coxa vara, coxa vara, oh the pain it brings
Shortened leg and limping stride, the sorrow that it sings
But I'll keep on movin', keep on fighting through
Find a way to dance, a way to see it through

Coxa vara, yeah, it's a part of me
But it won't define me, I'll be wild and free
With every step, a victory won
My heart's still beating, my race is just begun.
