Alcoholism

A cycle of poems «Is This Your American Dream?»

In the depths of darkness, I've lost my way
Alcohol's grip, I can no longer sway
It whispers sweet nothings, a siren's call
But leaves me broken, an empty shell I fall

Oh, alcoholism's chains, they hold me tight
A vicious cycle, I cannot escape its might
I seek solace in the bottle's embrace
But it's a false comfort, a dangerous chase

Relationships shattered, dreams turned to dust
All that I cherish, alcohol has crushed
My mind clouded, my body weak
Alcoholism's grip, I cannot break

I crave the oblivion, the temporary escape
But it's a trap, a downward spiral I can't shake
I've lost control, my will is gone
Alcohol has become my master, I'm its pawn

Oh, alcoholism's chains, they hold me tight
A vicious cycle, I cannot escape its might
I seek solace in the bottle's embrace
But it's a false comfort, a dangerous chase

I stumble through my days, a shadow of my former self
Shame and regret consume me, I cannot help
I long for freedom, to break free from this curse
But alcoholism's grip is a relentless force

But there's a flicker of hope, a spark within
I know I cannot fight this alone, I need to begin
With trembling hands, I reach out for aid
For in unity, there may be light to be made

Oh, alcoholism's chains, they can be broken
With strength and support, a fresh path can be spoken
I embrace the journey, one day at a time
Recovery's road is long, but it will be mine
