Unemployment

A cycle of poems «Is This Your American Dream?»

In a world of dwindling light,
Where dreams are shattered overnight,
I wander lost, a soul adrift,
Trapped in the clutches of unemployment's rift.

Bills piling up, a weight I bear,
As hope flickers, replaced by despair,
I search for solace in the darkest hours,
But find only shadows that mock my powers.

Unemployment, a cruel and bitter fate,
A thief that steals my dignity and my plate,
It robs me of purpose, of worth, of pride,
Leaving me broken, with nowhere to hide.

I once had a job that gave me meaning,
But now I'm cast aside, a forgotten being,
My skills deemed obsolete, my value gone,
I'm lost in a labyrinth of unemployment's dawn.

I've knocked on countless doors, sent resumes in vain,
But the silence is deafening, driving me insane,
Each rejection letter a cruel reminder,
That I'm unwanted, a worthless reminder.

Unemployment, a cruel and bitter fate,
A thief that steals my dignity and my plate,
It robs me of purpose, of worth, of pride,
Leaving me broken, with nowhere to hide.

The weight of judgment crushes me,
As society whispers words of mockery,
'Lazy,' they say, 'unmotivated, too,'
But they don't know the pain I'm going through.

I'm not afraid to work, I'm not afraid to strive,
But opportunity eludes me, it's hard to survive,
In a system that seems rigged, unfair, and cold,
Leaving the unemployed lost and left out in the cold.

Unemployment, a cruel and bitter fate,
A thief that steals my dignity and my plate,
It robs me of purpose, of worth, of pride,
Leaving me broken, with nowhere to hide.

But I will not surrender, I will not despair,
I will keep fighting, I will keep my head held high,
For I know that this is not the end of my story,
I will find my purpose, I will regain my glory.

Though unemployment has stolen much from me,
It cannot take away my spirit, my belief,
I will rise above this challenge, I will prevail,
And I will emerge from this darkness, with a tale to tell.
