Contracture
In the depths of pain, a silent decree
Contracture's grip, shackles me
Muscles seize, tendons tight
My body contorts, in endless fight
Oh, contracture, cruel and unkind
You steal my freedom, confine my mind
No movement, no grace, just endless ache
A living nightmare, I cannot shake
Once nimble fingers, now stiff and still
A shadow of my former self, a bitter pill
Limbs frozen, like statues in time
Trapped within a body that's not mine
Oh, contracture, cruel and unkind
You steal my freedom, confine my mind
No movement, no grace, just endless ache
A living nightmare, I cannot shake
I long for the day when I could dance again
To feel the wind caress my skin, like a gentle friend
But now my body betrays me, in a cruel jest
A shell of my former self, at its behest
Through pain and despair, I must find my way
To heal this wound, to mend this fray
With each small step, I forge ahead
Determined to conquer, though fear I shed
Oh, contracture, cruel and unkind
You steal my freedom, confine my mind
But I will fight, with all my might
To break your hold, and reclaim my light
In time, I'll heal, I'll be free once more
Contracture's grip, I'll break for sure
My body will dance, my spirit will soar
Defying the pain, forevermore
