Compartment Syndrome

A cycle of poems «Traumatology»

In the depths of muscle's grip,
A monstrous pressure, no hope to slip.
Compartment syndrome, a cruel twist of fate,
Locking limbs in a torturous state.

Oh, compartment syndrome, relentless dread,
Crushing tissue, leaving lives misled.
Numbness, pain, a symphony of despair,
As pressure builds and hope seems bare.

Blood flow constricted, nerves aflame,
Muscles writhe in agony's claim.
White flesh turns blue, a harbinger of doom,
As necrosis looms, sealing muscle's tomb.

Oh, compartment syndrome, relentless dread,
Crushing tissue, leaving lives misled.
Numbness, pain, a symphony of despair,
As pressure builds and hope seems bare.

Time is of the essence, a race against time,
To release the pressure, restore life's chime.
Surgery's blade, the only hope to save,
From this cruel torment, this untimely grave.

With trembling hands and a surgeon's skill,
Fascia is cut, tissue set free to spill.
Blood rushes in, bringing life anew,
As relief washes over, like a refreshing dew.

Oh, compartment syndrome, relentless dread,
Crushing tissue, leaving lives misled.
Numbness, pain, a symphony of despair,
As pressure builds and hope seems bare.

In the aftermath, a fragile dance,
As muscles heal and regain their trance.
Compartment syndrome, a lesson learned,
A battle fought, a life reborn.
