Shoulder Sprain

A cycle of poems «Traumatology»

In the heat of battle, I made a reckless move
A sudden twist, a sharp pain, my shoulder knew
A searing agony that shot through my frame
A sprain, a cruel reminder of the game

Shoulder sprain, a nagging ache
A constant throbbing, a bitter wake
Immobility, a prison I can't escape
My dreams of glory, now just a cruel jape

The doctor's words, a sentence I dread
Weeks of rest, my hopes left for dead
Ice and compression, a torturous embrace
The pain subsides, but the fear remains in its place

Shoulder sprain, a nagging ache
A constant throbbing, a bitter wake
Immobility, a prison I can't escape
My dreams of glory, now just a cruel jape

Through sleepless nights, I toss and turn
The pain a constant companion, a lesson to learn
Patience and perseverance, my guiding light
As I slowly rebuild, my strength I ignite

Physical therapy, a slow and arduous climb
Strengthening exercises, restoring my prime
Each repetition, a victory hard-earned
As my range of motion gradually returned

Shoulder sprain, a nagging ache
A constant throbbing, a bitter wake
Immobility, a prison I can't escape
My dreams of glory, now within my grasp

With time and dedication, I'll overcome
The pain that once defined me, now just a footnote
Shoulder sprain, a memory of the past
A testament to the strength I have amassed
