Sprichwort; Schmiedl: vorwiegend Oesterreich; Schmiedchen, Schmiedle: vorwiegend Deutschland; Schmiedl, Schmiedchen und Schmiedlein sind Verkleinerungsformen des Wortes "Schmied". Das Sprichwort besagt also, dass man sich bei Reparaturen o. ;. am besten an die groesseren Geschaefte und anerkannte Meister wenden sollte. Es ist schon sehr alt und findet sich bereits 1541 bei Sebastian Franck: "Es ist besser beym Schmid, dann beym Schmidlin zu beschlagen"

Die Redensart heisst : man soll zum Schmied und nicht zum Schmiedl gehen und bedeutet, man sollte sich an Leute wenden, die sich auskennen und was zu sagen haben und sich nicht mit Subalternen rumaergern.
