The Play-Your-Life Block

One ragamuffin gang sat near the casino,
Hopelessly longing to warm up inside,
But rare chaindog would let such in, no,
If your rug's the only thing you can confide.
The local pass The Play-Your-Life block by,
Behind the back they call it "Bungalow of broken dreams",
Though a single soul has never asked, just why
The story, which the city tells you, isn't what it seems,
Cursing that troubled night with screams:

"We were taken for a ride* around the world
With the one, whose iron heart was already sold,
Already sold for mines of gold,
With the tongue as well,
With the endless hollow words, that you're told.
The rubbished streets reveal the truth unfold,
Locked with the key before, which helped to break the mold,
So once during night stone cold
Those streets would cry the tears of fool's gold,
Wash clean the tales so bold,
With the regrets for lies, which took ahold!".

None of the ragamuffin gang has ever said a word,
Unluckily trying to swallow up the day-old bread,
Though pictures of the seaside villa with the casino's burned,
Since one more gambler-all-away was left out in the cold for dead,
And that's what by night then was said:

"I was taken for a ride around the world
With the one, whose iron heart was already sold,
Already sold for mines of gold,
With the tongue as well,
With the endless hollow words, that you're told.
The rubbished streets reveal the truth unfold,
Locked with the key before, which helped to break the mold**,
So once during night stone cold
Those streets would cry the tears of fool's gold,
Wash clean the tales so bold,
With the regrets for lies, which took ahold!".

The owner of the block would not turn up that night:
The noose around his neck has got too tight.
Crimson inscriptions on the wall "It's all my fault" -
Were written with his own thin finger's blood.
The neon skyscraper's sign was smashed down,
The house has covered up with  the gray dim gown -
And no surprise, the left-up room got no ghost:
You can't feed the soul that has been lost.

"I took them for a ride around the world
With me, whose stoney heart has been already sold,
Already sold for mines of gold,
With my greedy tongue as well,
With the endless hollow words, that I have told.
The rubbished streets revealed the truth unfold,
I tried to lock before, but it broke the mold,
Thus, during night stone cold,
Those streets would cry the tears of fool's gold,
Wash clean my tales, which were so bold,
With my endless regrets for lies, which took ahold!".
