I often stand there

I often stand there, in embrace of the night,
Alone on the terrace, no one by my side.
I look at the stars, as they twinkle and shine,
And think of the loneliness - greater than mine.
I'm rubbing my hands to get over the chill,
The stars only knowing the way that I feel.
The stars only witnessing all of the thoughts
That come to my mind as it travels and flows
Through myriad of things, like a river.
I think, as I'm starting to shiver,
Of millions of people on planet so small,
They scream, but no one seems to answer the call.
This frightening distance seems only to grow,
I'm standing, still watching the stars with awe;
To anyone looking at you, dear stars,
Please, pass all my warmest and sweetest regards.
They'll wake up to run all their errands with vigour -
No time for concerns about anything bigger -
But make sure they know, as they start to feel cold,
They are never alone in this wretched world.
