The genius Trump
Donald Trump bemoaned the fact that he was never described as “genius” after revealing to his followers that he had recently realised that the word “us” was spelled the same as “US”.
The former president questioned whether anybody else had ever thought to make the connection before, as he addressed supporters in New Hampshire on Monday, amid several ongoing criminal investigations into his conduct during his time in office.

Crowd chants 'lock him up' as Donald Trump arrives at campaign event
During his rambling speech, Mr Trump compared himself to Nelson Mandela and later backed Jesus Christ to be the next Speaker of the House.
Speaking about his dealings with French president Emmanuel Macron, he said: “Macron, nice guy, he’s for France – I’m for us.
“You know, you spell us right? You spell us U-S. I just picked that up. Has anyone ever thought of that? A couple of days [ago) I’m reading and it said us. And I said, you know, if you think about it, us equals U-S.”
To cheers and chants of “USA, USA” he continued: “Now if we say something genius, they’ll never say it, you know, we get 25, 30, 40, 50, 80,000, 100,000 people to the speeches. They’ve never said Trump’s a great speaker.
“I’ve never heard it… I said to my people, do you think they’ll ever acknowledge [it]… I must be doing okay. Except I’m a very handsome person. So I guess a lot of you want… They want to sit look like a beauty pageant. It’s amazing.”
Mr Trump has forged on with his plans to retake the White House in the 2024 election, and filed his name as a candidate in the 2024 election on Monday ahead of a rally in Derry.
The former president remains at the centre of four active legal investigations. The Department of Justice continues to prosecute him for his handling of classified US secrets and the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
He also has now seen two of his 2020 campaign legal attorneys, Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, plead guilty to crimes in a Georgia probe into the 2020 election — they are expected to testify on behalf of the state against Mr Trump and other co-defendants.

Mary Trump playfully mocked her uncle, Donald Trump, for giving new meaning to the “two-letter” word “us.”
In a video clip from one of the former president's 2024 campaign appearances, Donald Trump expressed his commitment to his followers, stating, “I'm for us. You know how you spell us, right? U.S. I just picked that up. Has anyone ever thought of that before? You know when you think about it, us equals U.S. If we think of something genius, they will never say it.”

She quipped, “News recently broke that Donald can spell a two-letter word. I'll soon discuss, in polysyllabic words he likely can’t spell, how Donald uses a plethora of deflection, projection, and megalomania, all to keep his fragile ego from imploding.”
Mary Trump has previously described her uncle and his family as transactional, suggesting that if it served his interests, Donald Trump wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice even his daughter, Ivanka Trump.
Given this context, it’s no surprise that her uncle’s comment on “us” drew her attention.
Despite legal challenges and significant opposition, Donald Trump maintains a substantial lead in the Republican primary race.

‘HIs Verbal Skills Are Limited’: Bill Barr Mocks Trump’s Vocabulary as Consisting Largely of ‘Very, Very, Very’

Former Attorney General Bill Barr demeaned Donald Trump’s vocabulary, stating that the former president’s “verbal skills are limited” as evidenced by his incessant use of the word “very.”
During an event at Harvard’s Institute of Politics on Thursday night, Barr spoke about his former boss in largely unfavorable terms. At one point, CBS Chief Correspondent Jan Crawford asked him if he thinks Trump is losing his mind. She cited the former president’s comments calling Hezbollah “very smart.”
“That was appalling,” Crawford said. “I mean, do you think he’s– is he losing it?”
“His verbal skills are limited,” Barr replied, prompting chuckles from the audience. “And so he, you know, if you get him away from ‘very, very, very,’ the adjectives sort of– they’re unfamiliar to him and they sort of spill out and he goes too far. You know, he’s not very disciplined when it comes to what he says.”
Speaking in Florida earlier this month, Trump said Hezbollah – the Iran-linked militant group – is “very smart,” which prompted ridicule across the spectrum. His comments echoed past praise of other notorious figures around the world, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Elsewhere during the program, Barr called Trump “a very petty man” and said he is running for president again for “retribution.”
“Things would start moving toward chaos,” the former attorney general said.
