Dereliction of duty

Dereliction of duty is a failure or refusal to perform assigned duties in a satisfactory manner. It is a form of employee misconduct and may be cause for disciplinary action, which will vary by employer. Dereliction of duty can have serious consequences for the company. Delegation of duties, on the other hand, refers to when a party involved in a contract arranges to have a third party execute some of the duties spelled out in the contract.
