To the editor: Saturday’s letters talked largely about The Times’ placement of former President Trump’s jail mug shot inside the paper. The response was, as is so often the case, 50-50.

However, as for analyzing the content and the portent of the photo, I suggest a look at former Republican operative Steve Schmidt’s blog “The Warning,” which juxtaposed Trump’s picture with a frighteningly similar one of Adolf Hitler.

The booking photo taken at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta signals that Trump is going to get back at everyone who said a word against him. So, it’s a good thing that all but two candidates on the Republican debate stage last week raised their hands to show loyalty to the leader.

Trump could get convicted and still win the GOP nomination and even the 2024 election. Let’s not forget that Hitler spent a year in jail before becoming chancellor of Germany. If people don’t vote against Trump in droves to overcome the electoral college, this country will go the way of other former democracies.

I fear fascism can happen here.

To the editor: Trump’s mug shot from Atlanta is one for the ages. His intentional offering of an “evil eye” is fortuitous, as if he is asking us to remember, “My evil eye calls the shots.”

He cannot help but reveal his hatred for losing control. His election lies have become part of his identity and contoured the ethos of his being. As a licensed therapist, I see a forceful, frightened child making a face — an adult child.

Trump’s potential for harm to both individuals and the fabric of this country stabs at the heart of humanity. Many who enable him are equally harmful to democracy.

One thing is sure: There are many remedies to neutralize the “evil eye.” I will add one more: Know the light in your own eyes is more powerful than any evil. And take action with that knowledge.

To the editor: Much has been said about the printing of the Trump mug shot. But the photo that was much more alarming to me was the one of the eight Republican candidates during their first debate, with six raising their hand to indicate that if Trump were to be a convicted felon by the 2024 election, they would still support him.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in particular, who is more qualified than anyone on that stage and who had done so well during the debate up to that point, absolutely hurt herself with that hand raise. I am disgusted.

To the editor: As for readers asking The Times not to print any more photos of Trump, I submit that his mug shot from Georgia be the only exception. Please feel free to use it whenever you need to refer to the former president.

This photo truly captures his true self — a bully and would-be tyrant trying to cow all who gaze upon it.

Tucker Carlson Slams Fox News for Not Defending Alex Jones

Aman has claimed that his copy of Tucker Carlson‘s biography written by Chadwick Moore was defaced with an Adolf Hitler mustache affixed to the fired Fox News host’s face on the book’s cover.

According to The Western Journal, Glenn Dobbs, a Washington State resident, ordered a copy of the new biography but when it arrived the cover was vandalized with a Hitler mustache. The book reportedly originated from an Amazon fulfillment center in Troutdale, Oregon, outside of Portland.

Moore recently published the first biography of Carlson since he was ousted earlier this year from Fox News. Carlson has helped promote the book and given the friendly author exclusive access.

“When I first took the book out of the box, I immediately saw that and I just kind of did a double take,” Dobbs told The Western Journal. “I couldn’t believe that someone in business would do something like that. And then I looked at it more closely. It was obvious that someone had taken a felt tip and just drew a Hitler-type mustache on the cover. So it was quite a shock, to say the least.”

When he attempted to write a review on Amazon, the company refused to publish his post, claiming it violated its rules. Dobbs claims that his review said the following: “Just received the book. Oddly, it had a Hitlerian-style mustache felt-tipped on the picture of Tucker Carlson and needless to say, I intend to send the book back.”

“There’s no violation of their rules at all,” Dobbs added. “So they just are not posting it because they don’t want people to realize that they have people in their company who feel strongly enough to deface the products that they’re sending out to their customers.”

Per The Western Journal:

Amazon spokesperson Alisa Carroll responded to Dobbs’ experience in an email to The Western Journal.

“We’re looking into this but at this point aren’t able to determine when or by whom this book was damaged,” she wrote.

“As far as our review policy is concerned, reviews are meant to help customers by providing real feedback on a product from other customers who have tried it,” she added. “Protecting the integrity of our customer reviews is a top priority and a review will be removed if it violates our participation guidelines.”

Trump's mugshot T-shirt cash grab could backfire and cost him millions: legal experts

According to SiriusXM radio host Dean Obeidallah, there is a legitimate legal case to be made that Donald Trump is violating U.S. copyright laws by selling merchandise emblazoned with his Fulton County mugshot -- and that could lead to major financial difficulties for him.

In a column for MSNBC, the attorney wrote that there has been a longstanding legal argument about who owns images like the now-infamous glowering Trump headshot associated with his indictment on RICO charges.

Noting that the former president has boasted that he raised a quick $7 million after his indictment in part by selling $34 mug shot t-shirts and “Never Surrender” coffee mugs for $25, he asserted the Fulton County Sheriff's department could come after the former president.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office.

"Various legal experts have noted, Trump’s sale of that mug shot, taken by the Fulton County sheriff, may violate U.S. copyright laws. This could mean that theoretically, the millions he is making off that photo may rightfully belong to the Fulton County sheriff — an entity that just happens to be in desperate need of funds to address the horrific conditions in the Fulton County Jail," he wrote.

Bolstering his case he added, "Betsy Rosenblatt, a professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, recently explained to Spectrum News 1 Ohio that the copyright owner of Trump’s mug shot is likely the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office."
