On the square, everywhere

Spain. Around 1820. A square, in Seville. On the right, a door to the tobacco factory. At the back, a bridge. On the left, a guardhouse. The people are going on the square, and the soldiers waiting for the changing of the guard look on them.

SOLDIERS' CHOIR:
On the square, everywhere
everyone comes and goes.
(Someone from people tries to break through but soldiers stop him.)
These people so strange! Who can them to know? (bis)
(One soldier takes the captured man forward.)
They are so strange!
They are so strange! Who can them to know?
(Soldier takes a man away.)
They are so strange! (4 times)
MORALES:
Standing at the gate of the guard-house,
For pass and kill the time,
(looks onto the soldier)
We smoke, we talk and we're watching
How the people pass by.
(Shows onto the soldier. In this moment to the closed gate inside run two little girls.)
On the square, everywhere
everyone comes and goes.
SOLDIERS' CHOIR (trying to stop girls):
On the square, everywhere
everyone comes and goes.
(Girls and some boys run away to different directions.)
These people so strange! Who can them to know? (bis)
(Two soldiers sit by the table, others are standing.)
MORALES:
They are so strange!
SOLDIERS' CHOIR:
These people so strange! (thrice)
(repeat it twice)
MORALES and SOLDIERS' CHOIR:
They are so strange!
