Sad story
You read me poems by Lope de Vega.
And everything was great between us, right?
And that was our alpha and omega!
Our contacts were so great and so welcome,
I've always looked forward to seeing you.
For me, our meetings were like a sip of rum,
And always our fiery dates were so few.
I wrote you over seven hundred sonnets,
In which I sang your virtues and charms.
There is no analogy among famous poets,
And now I hear only the sound of alarms.
In things right true my heart and eyes have erred,
And to this false plague are they now transferred.*
