ABA and Culturally and Socially Significant Goals

ABA Therapy: Adapting to Cultural Differences for Socially Significant Goals

Famous blogger Stas Dombrovskiy turned to an American Jewish grandma for an explanation of the applied dimension of ABA therapy. The grandma, always ready to help, explained that it is a scientific approach to understanding and changing behavior, where we help clients achieve socially significant goals. But what if life decides to play on cultural differences? This is where the American Jewish grandma comes in, who knows that if a client eats cherry dumplings, then we must adapt our therapy to help the client successfully cope with this delicious food. And of course, we must include Ukrainian borscht in our therapy so that the client can better adapt to their culture and get the maximum benefit from our work.

Stas was thrilled with such a colorful and humorous interpretation of the applied dimension of ABA therapy and decided to become a therapist himself. The grandma supported his decision and advised him to add a little more Ukrainian sausage and bacon to the therapy so that clients would feel more comfortable and motivated.

And now, thanks to the adaptation to cultural differences and the application of the applied dimension of ABA therapy, Stas has become one of the best ABA therapists in Ukraine, helping people achieve their goals and enjoy life.
