Parable. The Weeds Among the Wheat. Matthew 13. 24
With hope and care, at his own beat,
But while he slept, an enemy came,
And sowed weeds among the wheat, in shame.
The wheat it grew, tall and strong,
Its golden heads, a joyful song,
But among the wheat, the weeds appeared,
Their growth a hindrance, the farmer feared.
And when the workers saw the weed,
They sought to pull it, with great speed,
But the farmer said, "No, leave it be,
For the wheat and weeds, together they'll see."
And so it was, until the harvest time,
The wheat was gathered, and so was the vine,
And then the weeds, were cast away,
And the wheat, for the barn, was there to stay.
So too, is our world, with wheat and weed,
The good and bad, in our hearts indeed,
But the end will come, and all will be seen,
The wheat gathered, the weeds cast out, clean.
And we who follow, in faith and might,
Will shine like the wheat, with love and light,
And the weeds, will be cast out, in the end,
Leaving us, with grace, to be our friend.
