Aesops fable. The Frogs the Ox
With croaks so loud, their noise beyond
They yearned for a king, who'd rule with might
And bring an end to all their fright.
They summoned Jupiter, on high
And asked for a king to rule the sky
"Send us an Ox," the frogs did pray
"With strength and grace, to lead the way."
Jupiter obliged, and sent an Ox
With gentle eyes, and hooves of rocks
The frogs rejoiced, their king was here
And all their fears, were finally cleared.
But soon they found, their king so strong
Could barely hear, their chirping song
He'd trample on, their homes with glee
And not a care, for frogs like thee.
The frogs soon realized, with dread
That they had asked, for what they'd fled
For power and might, they'd lost the grace
And traded peace, for a stronger place.
So they went back, to Jupiter on high
And asked for help, with a mournful cry
"Send us our king, the one we knew
With croaks so loud, and gentle too."
And Jupiter listened, to their plea
And sent them back, the king they'd see
The gentle Ox, with eyes so kind
And strength enough, to rule mankind.
So learn from this, O frogs so wise
That might and grace, do not equate to prize
For often it's, the gentle touch
That brings peace, and love so much.
