Parable. New Cloth on Old Garment. Matthew 9. 16-1
Its threads and seams, beyond repair,
But still, a patch of new cloth sought,
To make it whole, as if it never fought.
Yet when applied, the patch, oh so new,
Its brightness and strength, causing quite the view,
But with the old cloth, it fails to blend,
Its roughness and weakness, we cannot pretend.
So too, is our faith, like the old garment worn,
With flaws and imperfections, that we cannot ignore,
But seeking new ways, to make it whole,
Can lead to tears and holes that take their toll.
For the new and the old, they do not mix,
And seeking change, can lead to tricks,
So let us instead, keep what we hold dear,
And strengthen our faith, year by year.
