Why do the nations rage and roar,
And rulers take their stand in vain,
Against the Lord and his Anointed One,
Against the King, whom they disdain?
The kings of earth set themselves up,
And gather their armies with a plan,
Against the Lord and his Anointed One,
To put an end to his command.
But the Lord in heaven laughs at them,
He scoffs at all their foolish schemes,
For he has set his King on Zion,
And he is the one who reigns supreme.
I will tell you of my decree,
And you, O kings, listen with care,
Serve the Lord with fear and reverence,
And bow before him, if you dare.
For he will surely break your chains,
And you will be his people then,
And all the earth shall know his name,
And worship him from end to end.
