Our Cities...

Our cities – far apart in distant countries;
Yet never time, nor ticking clock or space
Can bar my soul from yours, and cause our parting:
I’ll pierce miles to kiss your heart and face.

I’ll spread my wings and surge, a wind untethered,
And come to call, traversing milky ways;
When sunlight wakes you gently, as a feather,
I’ll be your secret guest of cosmic space.

I’ll be the beam of sun upon the morrow,
And touch your eyes, their sleepy waking gaze;
You’ll smile at the sun, and squint and furrow,
And think of me again…again…again…

You’ll think of me on days or rainy clouds:
I’ll hug you drop by drop - embrace, enmist,
And fall into your palms to rest and lounge;
Caress your cheek, a tender rainy kiss.

At night I’ll guard your dreams and your repose
And cloak you gently, softly with the stars;
I’m in your breath, your cells, the blood that flows,
Engulfing all your being, every part.

I’ll rest upon your hands – the book you found,
Your lips will send me forth – a poet’s song,
You’ll hear my breath in each and every sound,
And open wide to me your heart and soul…
