My Hope
Once again, we’re far away from home,
Once again, we’re light years apart –
Lights of cities, stars and aerodromes…
Here, there is endless rain and mist,
Here, there is cool and frosty sunrise,
Here, we have millions risky twists
In our book of ventures and surprises
My Hope – My Compass on Earth,
And luck is a prize for the daring,
A song ‘bout my home and hearth,
One song for the nostalgic farer
Trust me, in this far and distant land
Much is lost beneath the starry dances:
Melt the stormy clouds in a flash,
Melt the silly grudges and offenses…
All you have to do is learn to wait,
Learn to be composed and cool, relentless –
If you want for life to send your way
Even seldom – gifts of joyful letters…
Refrain
Can’t forget beneath the cold skies
All the songs we never finished singing,
Those ever-dear languid eyes…
And the Moscow blizzard, blue and ringing…
Once again, we’re lightyears apart,
Life commands that we elope alone,
Shines above that distant foreign star,
Glimmers like a monument to hope…
Refrain
