Let Them Race Through the Puddles

Let’em race through the puddles,
So clumsy and muddy –
The pedestrians and floods on the street;
They’re perplexed, they’re bewildered:
In this rain so wicked
Why I’m cheerful, and singing, and free.

And I am playing. My accordion.
Pass the passersby and stare;
But I fear birthday cheer
Happens once a year.

He will soon land, the wizard
In a blue helicopter,
Free to all are the movies and jive;
Birthday wishes and presents,
He will leave us, I reckon,
Ice cream pies, seven hundred or five.

And I am playing. My accordion.
Pass the passersby and stare;
But I fear birthday cheer
Happens once a year.
