Mistakes

Feeling guilty inside,
Barely playing it cool,
Acting like it's all right,
But I know I'm a fool.
It's the burden I have to be bearing,
It's the price that I pay for not caring.

Overwhelmed with disgust
At the way I behave,
My soul covered in rust,
Sick of being enslaved.
I've been tangled in my misconceptions
As I follow misleading directions.

A clear conscience, they say,
Makes soft pillows to sleep.
I've got no one to blame,
I'm not going to weep.
It's the weight I won't place on your shoulders,
My mistakes are not crossing your borders.
