Sonnet to a Lawyer

A Lawyer's Sonnet

She entered, smiled – Muse of Jurisprudence,
And charmed the court: so easy, in a flash,
At once – of minds and families a student;
A student and a Goddess, soothing clashes.

The mallet dropped, and spoke severe voices:
Objections and conjectures to the stars,
But she was poised, and so sweetly poisonous,
The opposition and “His Honor” - simply stunned.

Her voice and smile penetrated courtrooms,
Perhaps she did transcend both time and space…
She’s full of life, and knowledge, and decorum,
And wins the suits – to suit her winning ways.

Who is this girl, who sat across the table?
A lawyer? Goddess? Figment of a fable…?
