One evening at the seaside

The sea, the rocks, the crescent moon,
the city is somewhere far.
I try to foresee what could happen soon,
but there is no falling star.

I try to look backwards at the long road,
to see what was lost long ago,
but the only truth that comes to the fore
is that I’ve played too many roles.

That I used to wear so many masks,
I finally feel confused,
I search for someone who will help me
to find any proper excuse.

One who explains
what has happened to me -
how I arrived at this point?
Why I allow what’s left of my life
to hinge on the toss of a coin?

I am gazing at the stars
sending their light
through the oncoming gloom…
And peacefully breathe
lulled by the night,
the sea,
the rocks,
and the moon.
