Carrot and stick feelings poem

Once in a village pretty big
Called Waterfall Splash Glitters
There lived a Carrot and a Stick
Who worked as babysitters.

The Stick was strict and adamant,
Demanding, overbearing,
While Carrot was extremely kind,
All generous and caring.

There also lived a stubborn boy
Who never ever listened
To anything that he was told
By parents or by teachers.

"Why me?" -  he grumbled now and then,
"Don't make me! That's unfair!"
They tried to urge him - but in vain:
He answered: "Don't you dare!"

His parents, desperate and sick
Abandoned any effort
And turned for help to Mr. Stick
And lovely Mrs. Carrot.

The teachers promptly set to work
To bridle boy's nasty temper,
But both experienced a shock
On entering his chamber.

The Carrot murmured: "Lovely boy,
It's such a mess in here!
When you replace your every toy
I'll give you sweets, my dear!"

"But, - firmly added Mr. Stick -
In case of disobedience
You'll be deprived for long a week
Of any sweets or biscuits".

The boy obeyed, but he felt pained
Insulted by the pressure,
He wished to flee but was afraid
To be bereaved of pleasure.

Next was his homework. Carrot said:
"My dear child, do make it
And when you finish all of that
We'll have a lovely pancake".

Stick added: "Be attentive please,
I'll check your every letter,
And don't you try to leave until
You've done the best and better!"

The boy sat woeful down the chair
And stared at his papers,
Not shirking, being all aware
What otherwise could happen.

Thus passed unjoyful day by day:
The Carrot sought to please him
While Stick induced him to obey
With threatening and strictness.

The boy got angry but reserved
And by the day yet sadder
He could not stand to be controlled
And hated his offenders.

His parents saw him getting bleak,
Performing - like a parrot.
So they dismissed stern Mr. Stick
And bribing Mrs. Carrot.

They realised he felt offence
For being disregarded
They've tried to bring him up to hand
But found themselves misguided.

They now tried hard to find inside
Pure love for their sonny
With due respect to his own mind,
His feelings and desires.

The boy relaxed and all lit up
On feeling such acceptance,
So badly has he needed love -
Not quenching and intendance.

The boy grew helpful by and by,
Industrious and sharing,
Of course he misbehaved at times,
But he felt pride for caring.

I know you sometimes, dear child,
Get criticised or punished,
Please trust me: you're forever loved!
Rely on this and flourish!
