However, there’s one problem with this saying. What happens if you try to throw uncooked or very under-cooked spaghetti against the wall? None of it will stick! You’ll just end up with raw spaghetti strewn across the floor.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.” It’s a common way to describe the process of testing many different tactics at the same time in order to identify what works (sticks) and what doesn’t work (falls to the floor).

Candidates that are unclear about their direction or are unable to articulate their value accurately may end up in roles that are a complete mismatch. Likewise, employers that inaccurately or incompletely describe the roles they need to fill may end up wasting considerable time trying to identify the correct solution. A company that describes a culture that is contrary to what people actually experience is another source of potential conflict. The internet can provide a vehicle, but passively using it as the destination without digging for input from real, live people can lead to huge wastes of time and resources.
The internet is seductive. It is so much easier to believe it holds the answers to life’s mysteries, than to imagine what it would be like without it. Granted, it really does hold a HUGE amount of information, but it still cannot replace our feelings, values or perceptions of what we hold dear. You might be thinking: what in the world does this have to do with business? And I would have to say: almost everything.

I usually use De Cecco Spaghetti and other De Cecco pastas at home. Premium Italian pasta like this is much less likely to go mushy and it is easier to get perfectly al dente.
The problem with the wall spaghetti test is that the stickiness of pasta does not indicate when it is done. If your pasta sticks to the wall it simply means it is sticky. When you boil pasta it cooks from the outside in. The outer surface of the pasta can start to get sticky before the inner part is tender enough. So, your spaghetti or other pasta can stick to the wall but still be too crunchy. If you throw some at the wall and find that it sticks, then you try some and it is perfectly al dente, it’s called luck. That is, it is a coincidence that the pasta stuck and happens to be ready. On the other hand, it may stick to the wall and already be too mushy. The test is simply unreliable.

Do you know the funny theory about pulling a strand of spaghetti out of the water and throwing it against the wall to see if the spaghetti is ready? Well, unless your aim is to be eccentric or to get your kitchen dirty, the Italians think this makes no sense at all. Just taste it, or break it in two halves to see if it’s ready or not. Also, any good pasta cook will tell you not to rinse the pasta after getting out of the boiler. Don’t worry, it will not stick, you’re about to add a sauce on it in few seconds.

Conclusions. In conclusion, the SOWS rule shall be refused in any “reasonable” kitchen or restaurant unless a huge amount of spaghetti is wasted in statistical tests. It is indeed more efficient to rely on the cooking time reported on the box. An alternative possibility to avoid waste is that the spaghettis are eaten after being stuck on the wall or fallen onto the floor as we have experienced in our experiment! We stress that this is a clear example where the “common knowledge” shall be carefully used and thus we urge the reader never to believe simple truths even if widespread accepted. We think that our study demonstrated once more the importance of the scientific method, which can be used to improve all important steps of our life starting from a good spaghetti meal.

Warum kleben meine Spaghetti nach dem Kochen an der Wand? Wenn Sie Nudeln kochen, werden sie von aussen nach innen gegart. Die aeussere Oberflaeche der Nudeln kann beginnen, klebrig zu werden, bevor der innere Teil weich genug ist. So koennen die Spaghetti oder andere Nudeln an der Wand kleben bleiben, aber immer noch zu knusprig sein. Wenn du etwas an die Wand wirfst und feststellst, dass es kleben bleibt.
Wie nennt man es, wenn Nudeln an der Wand kleben bleiben? Wenn man Nudeln an die Wand wirft und feststellt, dass sie kleben bleiben, dann probiert man sie und sie sind perfekt al dente, das nennt man Glueck. Das heisst, es ist ein Zufall, dass die Nudeln kleben bleiben und gerade fertig sind. Andererseits kann es sein, dass die Nudeln an der Wand kleben und schon zu matschig sind.
Wirfst du beim Kochen auch Sachen gegen die Wand? Man wirft etwas an die Wand, um zu sehen, ob es fertig ist, und kocht es weiter, wenn nicht. Vor Jahren, als Tyko und ich noch zusammen waren, lebte er in einer Wohnung in Philadelphia. In seiner Kueche war die Wand rechts neben dem Herd voll mit getrockneten Spaghetti, die er und seine Mitbewohner darauf geworfen hatten.


Wann sind Spaghetti fertig Wand?

Um zu testen ob die Nudel gar ist werfen viele Koeche die Nudel gegen die Wand, wenn diese kleben bleibt soll sie gut sein. Das ist aber ein Mythos der sich schon laenger haelt. An der Wand klebt die Nudel wegen der Staerke und ist kein Indikator ob diese gar oder al dente ist.

Diese Frage haben mir schon ;fter russischsprachige Freunde gestellt, die des Deutschen nicht m;chtig sind und bei dem Versuch gescheitert waren, einem Ausl;nder den Sinn dieser Redewendung deutlich zu machen. Sie, liebe Leser, wissen es: Natuerlich kann man es nicht, denn Redewendungen lassen sich nun einmal in den meisten F;llen nicht woertlich in eine andere Sprache uebersetzen.
Im Deutschen kann man in eben jener Bedeutung, wenn man denn bei der Nudel bleiben m;chte, jemanden auf die Nudel schieben. Diese Redewendung ist nach meiner Erfahrung jedoch nicht mehr allzu stark verbreitet und wird wohl eher regional von der aelteren Generation verwendet und von der mittleren immerhin noch verstanden."
