somewhere, in the distant kingdom,
in the far away land of beyond,
weal king Dadon was and dwellen.
from a young he was a stern,
to the neighbors very often
offense he inflicted boldly;
but at old age he would like
to take a break from a fights
and to make himself a rest.
now the neighbors went to fret
and embarrass elden king,
doing terrible harm to him.
so to protect from their charges
his possessions on the marges,
he was obliged to maintain
numerous battle men.
governors did not doze off,
but they didn't timed it on:
when they waited from the north,  -
from south foe army forced.
they would set it - dashing guests
come from the sea. out of wrath,
sometimes king Dadon was weeping,
sometimes he forgot sleep even.
what is life in such a worry!
here, he in seeking support
turned to the important sage,
the stargazer and abstand.
he sends a staffette/rider with a bow.

here, the wise man is before Dadon
stood, and took out of the bag
preciously golden cockerel.
"place this bird, - he told the king, -
on the roof, on feather-needle;
and my golden cockerel
will be faithful watcher gate:
"as far as the whole is placid,
he will sit still and impassive;
but, as only from a side
you should expect war or battle,
or a warlike forces foray,
or another uncalled woe,
instantly my cockerel
will wake up and raise his crest,
scream and shake up in alert,
and will turn his beak to there."
Dadon thanks the olden wise,
promises him golden highs.
"for this such a wonder service, -
he says in delighted senses,
your the very firsten will,
like/as my own I shall fill."
