Three lucky charms

At my life’s dawn, three lucky charms fate gave me
That had three meanings; each one with its own.
The first led me to distant lands, where bravely
I learned of love, before to me unknown.

Another taught the subtle art of breaking
Young ladies’ hearts; I conquered hearts galore.
The third showed me a pathway that would take me
To depths not of the Earth: those of my core.

I threw the first charm in the sea and down
Out of the window tossed the second; might retrieve
it later — but the jewel in my crown
Is that third charm I cherish and believe.
