My Town Of Youth

At a lone deserted station
I step down from the train
I wish my mama and papa
Were here today to meet me !
In my mind I see my Mary,
Hair of gold and lips like cherries,
Run up to me and kiss me gently on my nose !

In my mind I see my Mary,
Hair of gold and lips like cherries ...
It's so nice to touch
The green, green grass of home!

My hometown is now so empty
Just like the heart devoid of soul ...
And there's no place for me to  go to ...
My old folks, the friends, and Mary -
All are gone to the Land of Prairies
Where the birds are singing praizes to Our Lord !

I stand still despite the weather
Heavy drizzle drenching my hair,
Fancy shoes, raincoat of leather,
The guitarcase in my right hand ...

There's no time to walk down the Main Street
The connecting train's expected
To be leaving soon
For the City of the Gold ...

At this lone deserted station
I'm the only one who knows
That there's no other town
I really want to live in ...

This is my town of youth with Mary,
Hair of gold and lips like cherries !
It's been so good to touch
The green, green grass of home!
