The Lost World in Poems

Chapter 1

Curupuri

Irish spirit burning sparkled -
So, my pure love to prove,
In adventures rush with all heart,
Soul and mind begin to move.
O, my God, what am I about it?
Where does this disaster starts?
From the place of famous scientist,
Challenger, professor’s cards.
That’s the game, who’s the smartest here,
Life goes on - so take a chance,
By the way, I know some hears,
He’s a fighter against the fans.
I’m reporter, bold like Great wall,
And the fierce of savant’s zeal
Be for me like evening moon stroll
Or for lion his next meal.
Not a winner, not a loser -
I am got this interview,
But I’m keeping ice on my bruise -
Let’s correct this point of view.
And so far so more uncommon.
We’re friends, but our talk...
It’s about Lost World phenomenon,
Not a nearer place to walk.
But more frightening than ever -
It’s the spirit of Lost World,
Like a dragon, hidden somewhere,
“Curupuri”, named this word.
“Here, see, it is sketch drawing,
An album from the Amazon.
Who’d you think for you I’m showing?
No, not this! Another form”
It’s a phantasmagoric picture:
Dozens spikes and tale with ram,
In some way a handsome creature,
“Stegosaurus, my son”.
“How it could be! What a joking!”
“Heh, okay, let’s see the bones”
And my fingers seeks some smoking -
It’s front page release and bounce.
“It is indian old story” -
Challenger has blinked his eye, -
“Forest manitou, the cause of worries,
Curupuri, I will find!”
Then, in confident and soft voice,
This scientific Hercules
Said - “Melone, you have a choice:
Check it out at the conference”.
We shook hands like we’re good fellows.
“No day boredom!” - said myself,
“Take equipment from the cellars -
The Lost World’s waiting, nature’s wealth!”
