Shining with Joy

I've heard of you – the vivid eyes,
The shiny smile — this bright sunrise
I see emerged out of nowhere.
So weird, but I've seen it somewhere –

The lovely image that I drew
From stories people told ‘bout you.
I heard how fine you used to be;
And now you're right in front of me.

I can't believe; you haven't changed!
For twenty years! You haven't aged!
The same bright eyes and smile I knew,
All I've heard 'bout seems to come true.

I'm walking 'round, isn't it a dream?
That thousands of times I have seen.
For the first time I look at you,
But feel such a strong deja vu.

I'm coming closer, here you are!
You're smiling – shining like a star.
You're so respected, so sublime,
But you're so kind at the same time.

The bitter truth – I see you once
A month or two, so little chance.
And you will never know ‘bout me;
Have to accept this fate’s decree.

So though you're here, so close to me,
You are unreachable; I see
The only thing that I can do
Is stand nearby and look at you.
