Rejoice!

When circumstances threaten or annoy,
or doleful events take their toll,
then not external joy, but inner joy
of being saved by Jesus warms my soul.

Not bed of roses, life is never smooth,
and happy moments fly away like birds,
but promises of God can pain soothe,
when someone’s cruel word or action hurts.

It is a test for faithfulness, and you
are born to overcome your inner foes
and slay all fears, just like David slew
Goliath, you can enemies depose.

Not people are our enemies but fears
to be misunderstood when we are meek,
when we are not afraid showing tears,
when someone strike us on another cheek.

Not showing off your muscles of biceps,
but seeking the example of the Lord
and following Christ Jesus in His steps,
in Heaven will collect a true reward.

We are to be victorious, to be
not like the world - ill-tempered, bitter, sad.
Not bound by resentment, we are free
to love them who are hateful or mad.

Don’t let your anger stifle you, torment,
a heart forgiving is a better choice,
and in all circumstances be content
that you are loved by God and can rejoice.

“Rejoice!” the Bible says, that inner peace
in every situation will transcend
and from your anxious mindset release
and glorify Christ Jesus in the end.
