You left me on Tuesday

You left me on Tuesday
And said you’d be back in two weeks
I thought it’s not long
I’m not who can easily freak

Yet Wednesday came slowly
And home was swallowed by grief
When Thursday arrived
Your absence was hard to dismiss

The weekend approached
Had some breakfast and ironed your shirts
Watched a movie or two
And considered ice-cream for dessert

Then gave up the idea
What’s the fun to enjoy on my own
May be go to bed
Read your messages stored in the phone

Quickly close my eyes
And imagine the time disappear
Waking up to your smile
And your body beside me, so near

And again in the morning
Hear the voice that persistently creeps,
“He left you on Tuesday
And said he’d be back in two weeks”
