Marriage Proposal

When childly gleeful Minna stood in front
Of her ingenious suitor Sigmund Freud,
Expecting him to end a half-year hunt
For her, and ask in marriage, she enjoyed

Completely their mutual rapport.
Her mother thought it was a perfect match,
And certainly a dear child should snatch
At such a chance she long was looking for.

Her sister Martha smiled at first and burst
Then into laughter.  She did oddly seem
To be too agitated. Minna’s dream
Was ready to come true, but double-cursed,

When Sigmund, killing Minna’s joy, ad lib
Surprisingly proposed to her sib.
