Sweet tears in vain

Once I went through unchaining rain -
Night's autumn rain of the inflicted pain.
Walked the streets soaked,
Untied, unstroked
With merry's noise I almost choked -
The noise of the crowd's booing nearby,
The scene - prepared to mute the pour's cry.
On a click for the new,
The quiet few -
As not too bad it wasn't you.

No, it wasn't you - you just weren't there,
Shut down those ship-cheap shining fairs.
Shining with all colours of greed,
So do what you need -
The fair's fires tamed less mouth to feed.
Fewer birds of decency broke less branches,
Fewer refreshing drops made smaller changes.
The rainy mist is unfair,
But I don't care
For still it doesn't bring you there.

I'll miss this autumn rain of washing clean
My mind - now I see things I haven't seen.
Your embrace was too mean,
When it seemed so serene...
The night's kisses of calmness - what they even mean?
Wait under the fair's roof, build of hope's ruins hut -
The coiling merry's over without a start.
Still this you'll never get (1)
Why I went there wet,
The loud crowd's limiting course was set.

I stepped in the truth's puddle when opened my eyes
Falling for (2) - just like I did for your lies.
Chilly rain silenced again
Your sweet tears in vain -
Do they matter when it anyway stays the same?..

1) realise, understand
2) fall for somebody (fall in love) fall for lies (believe them)
