Why is life given?

Why is life given us, oh why?
Why our thoughts disturb or stimulate,
why have we emotions low or high,
feeling angry, desolate, or great?

Are we here just to satisfy
our pleasures, wasting our days,
destined to be born and then to die,
firmly stuck in our old ways?

When above us shine distant stars,
telling us about never ending
space, we are busy with our cars,
houses, and time quickly spending.

Is there another goal than
to consume this life and to blither?
And what end awaits for a man
or a woman when their bodies wither?

What could be the meaning for this all -
duties or a personal affection,
if one doesn’t have a higher call
if one cannot find with God connection?

If this life is only for now,
satisfying greediness or pride,
it’s exists for death, as it’s somehow
pushing the eternity aside.

When the body will become just dust
and the soul has a revelation,
only in Christ alone trust
gives us life beyond all expectation.

Could a person be forgiven then,
seeing Jesus Christ upon His throne?
None of us can live this life again,
each with guilty consciences alone.

If one had rejected Christ before
meeting Him, when nothing can be changed,
what’s awaiting for such soul in store?
Did it not its own hell arranged?

We will give account for each word,
and repentance can amend our ways.
Human life is to please the Lord,
with our words and deeds to give Him praise.
